Seasonal Utilities Laborer (Water/Wastewater) - City of Carmel
Are you looking for a hands-on role with flexible hours this summer? Join the City of Carmel’s seasonal team and help support essential water and wastewater operations. We’re seeking dependable, detail-oriented individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to meaningful community projects.
What You’ll Do:
•
Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including painting, cleaning, digging, sweeping, landscaping, and drilling
•
Assist with daily department operations and project support
•
Help install and manage temporary traffic control measures
•
Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials
•
Operate tools and machinery such as mowers, power tools, and utility equipment
•
Clean, maintain, and inspect vehicles, tools, and equipment after use
•
Report any defects or repair needs to supervisors
•
Maintain basic records of work activities and inventory
•
Run job-related errands and assist team members as needed
•
Follow all safety procedures, including confined space, trenching, and lockout/tagout standards
What You Bring:
•
High school diploma or GED
•
Valid Indiana driver’s license (preferred)
•
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within established guidelines
•
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
•
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
•
Ability to operate or learn a variety of equipment (e.g., dump truck, forklift, tractor, hand and power tools)
•
Willingness to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 20-50 lbs regularly (up to 100 lbs occasionally)
•
Comfort working outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
•
Strong attention to detail and reliability in completing tasks
